Hoop Addicts ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by The Tech Jonin. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Hoop Addicts mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your data to third parties.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the app.
- Account information: email address, display name, and profile photo when you sign up.
- Profile details: skill level, bio, and any other information you choose to add to your profile.
- Location: approximate location to show nearby games. We request location permission on-device and do not store precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
- Game activity: games you host or join, attendance records, and MVP votes.
- Payment information: if you pay a game fee or receive payments as a host, payment details are processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers — Stripe handles this under their own privacy policy.
- Device information: app version and basic device info for debugging purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To show you nearby pickup games and connect you with other players.
- To process payments between hosts and players via Stripe Connect.
- To send transactional notifications about games you've joined or hosted.
- To improve the app — understanding usage patterns helps us prioritise features and fix bugs.
- To enforce our Community Guidelines and respond to reports.
Information Shared With Others
Your public profile (name, photo, skill level, bio) is visible to other users in the app. Game hosts can see the profile of players who join their games.
We share data with the following service providers solely to operate the app:
- Supabase — database and authentication (servers hosted on AWS).
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's use of your data is governed by their Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or any other third parties.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons (e.g. payment records).
Your Rights
You can:
- Access or update your profile information at any time in the app.
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Withdraw location permission at any time via your device settings.

Children's Privacy
Hoop Addicts is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
